THREE DAYS HIKE TO WESTERN USAMBARA
LUSHOTO - LUKOZI - RANGWI - MTAE
day 1
Take an uphill walk from LUSHOTO to Kwembago royal village of kilindi the settlement of usambara king,learn about Kilind the rain makers and general traditional culture of wasambaa,keep walking to the natural rain forest namely MAGAMBA through corn and coffee fields,nice landscapes.explore and learn about several species of trees,flowers and shrubs. Admire the rich vegetation,colourful birds and butterflies as well as colobus monkeys visit a historic cave in the forest and then climb up to MAGAMBA forest peak at 1850m above sea leave and have a picnic lunch at this point while enjoying nice view of lushoto then keep walking up and down through small villages to Lukozi village and overnight in the lodge. day 2
After breakfast the walk will start again through the villages and settlements of mbugu and pare tribes also will pass through nice landscapes,viewpoints,mountain high peaks to Rangwi village and accommodate in the nuns (sisters)convent enjoy and experience night life in the village with locals day 3
Walk through the village of Emau and climb Shagayu peak 2217m asl where you Will have a nice view over usambara beautiful scenery, keep walking through shagayu pine forest to Goka village,then to Sunga village and stop for lunch(hot mill).after lunch keep walking to the village of Mabughai and visit pottery women and learn how they mould pott using clay soil,walk down to Mtae village while enjoying the nice view of Pare mountains. go for sunset around 6:30pm and back to the accommodation,interact with local people in the evening early in the morning you will drive back to MAGAMBA village near lushoto and walk to either Mkuzi waterfalls or the famous Irente viewpoint NOTE:through Out your trip you will be learning about usambara culture as well as traditional medicines.
